Mercedes Mas de Xaxàs is Senior Advisor for International Advocacy at PAI. Women’s rights and empowerment are at the core of her passion and commitment. Mercedes works with PAI to promote the sexual and reproductive health of all persons, specially of women and young people. Her work includes collaboration with CSOs worldwide for the development of advocacy strategies; facilitation and support of multi-stakeholder partnerships; analyses of national and international policies; advocacy coaching, and grant-making to advocacy groups across the globe.
Mercedes has worked as a consultant with PAI since 2003, following her tenure as Vice President for International Advocacy. Prior to joining PAI she worked with Parliamentarians for Global Action (NYC) and the law firm of Milbank, Tweed, Hadley and McCloy (NYC.) She has a law degree from the University of Barcelona and is fluent in English, Spanish, French, Italian, and Catalan.
